How it works

A careful review, in three steps

You can dispute errors directly with the credit bureaus for free. We help you find possible errors, understand them, and prepare clear, organized disputes.

1. Analyze

  • Upload the PDF of your report from Equifax, Experian or TransUnion. You can add all three. Comparing them finds the most issues.
  • We read every account, inquiry and personal detail. Private numbers are masked to the last 4 digits, and your file is erased right after.
  • You check what we read before anything else happens.

2. Rate

  • Each item gets a plain-English rating: Looks accurate, Worth a closer look, or Possible error.
  • For possible errors, we show the dispute strength and why, plus the law that applies.
  • We ask you a simple question about each flagged item. We only prepare disputes for things you confirm are wrong.

3. Act

  • We recommend the right letter for each confirmed item.
  • Fill it in yourself, or give us permission to fill it in for you.
  • You read it, sign it, print it and mail it. We never send anything in your name.

How to download your free reports

  1. 1Go to AnnualCreditReport.com. Type the address yourself to avoid look-alike sites.
  2. 2Click “Request your free credit reports.”
  3. 3Enter your name, address, date of birth and Social Security number.
  4. 4Choose all three bureaus: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
  5. 5Answer the security questions for each bureau.
  6. 6On each report page, choose “Download” or “Print” and save it as a PDF.
  7. 7Upload the PDFs to ReportLantern.

Checking your own report does not affect your score.
